Wizard's Tips and Tricks
Tips and tricks for doing a variety of things.
Pretty good vacuum packing:
Ok, all you need is ziploc bags and a plastic straw. You put whatever (food, etc) into the ziploc
and then close it all except for a 1/2 inch on one end. Stick the plastic straw into the end of the
bag, zip the bag up to the straw, hold it tight, and breathe in. When you can't get any more air
out, just pull the straw out quickly (grab it with your teeth)
and close the ziploc all the way. Here's a picture:
Getting a Song out of your Head:
I've used "Midnight Special", by Credence Clearwater to good effect.
"Let the Midnight Special....shine a lite on me...let the midnight speeeecial shine an everlovin' lite
on me"
Easter Eggs:
The following Easter Egg will make you realize that although Windows95 can really drive you
up the wall sometimes, it's basically a pretty good system, and a LOT of people
apparently made an effort to do the best they could while developing it.
Many programs have hidden messages (Easter Eggs) placed in their code, viewable
only after several obscure keystrokes. To look at the one in Windows95, do the
following:
Right-click on the desktop, and select Folder from the New menu.
In the name field, type the following exactly as shown:
and now, the moment you've all been waiting for
Press Enter. Then, right-click on the folder again, select Rename, and type the
following exactly as shown:
we proudly present for your viewing pleasure
Again, press Enter, right-click on the folder, select Rename, and type the
following exactly as shown:
The Microsoft Windows 95 Product Team!
Double-click the folder to open it.

Veggie Crisp:
Ok, here's one I thought of, but haven't done yet, so if anyone does this, let
me know how it works. What you do is fill your veggie drawers in the bottom of
your frig with water, and let the veggies stay there. I think they'll stay crisp
and fresh for a long time...........
Garbage Disposal Getting Stuck:
If you have to keep using a broom handle to get your garbage disposal to unstick, next time you get it
going, pour some olive or salad oil into it. This works like a charm.
If you have any really great tips/tricks (they have to be pretty good), e-mail to the Wizard and
he'll add them here (and give you credit!).
